The House of the Dead 4 Demo is now available to PS+ Members

Today, Sega has released the House of the Dead 4 demo for PS+ members to try out before buying the full game on April 17th. The demo will feature the first chapter “Escape” as James and Kate blast their way through the creature infestation and fight the first boss “Justice (Type 0053)” Tell us your thoughts about the demo on our Twitter, Facebook, or comment below. The House of the Dead III is the #3 best selling PSN game of the month

The House of the Dead III made it as one of the top 20 best selling games on the PlayStation Network at #3 as of April. Looks like Sega is on a roll with the series in digital sales. Let’s see how The House of the Dead 4 does this month. If both games continue to sell well, we maybe able to see a arcade perfect port of the original House of the Dead and a home release for Loving Dead: The House of the Dead EX.

According to Andriasang, Sega has trademarked a new game called “Flick of the Dead. A touch-based House of the Dead game for the 3DS or smartphones perhaps? If that’s the case, FLICK OUTSIDE OF THE SCREEN!

Japanese House of the Dead official website has been updated with release dates for HOTD 3 & 4

Sega of Japan’s official House of the Dead website has finally been updated after the release of The House of the Dead Overkill Director’s Cut (Extended Cut in US and EU) with the inclusion of The House of the Dead III and 4 for PlayStation Network which both are set for release on 4/19/12 for 1,000 yen in Japan. So AMS of Japan, pump those shotguns and reload your Uzi this month and send those evil experimental creatures back to the source.

Sega announces Sega Bass Fishing of the Dead

Sega is coming out with a new crossover game called Sega Bass Fishing of the Dead. Players must fish out and shoot undead sea creatures. The game will also feature a multiplayer mode up to 4 players. So grab your buddies and kill those fishes. Sega Bass Fishing of the Dead will be availible for Wii U and 3DS sometime this year.

Sad Day for the Sega Community: Sega plans to down size SOA including major laid offs

Today is a very sad day for the Sega community. Sega has plans to restructure their consumer business due to loss of money. Their focusing on digital games and create a smaller company positioned for sustained profitability. Which means some lay offs and game cancelations are involved. The statement reads as follows from Sega Sammy
“The Sega consumer business is expected to post operating loss due to the challenging economic climate and significant changes in the home video game software market environment in the US and Europe.

It is essential to streamline [our] organisation in the field of home video game software, while shifting to a structure that corresponds to a change in environment, including strengthening development in the field of digital content.

We decided to narrow down sales titles to strong IPs such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Football Manager, Total War and Aliens which are expected to continue posting solid earnings. In accordance with this, we are cancelling the development of some game software titles.

The House of the Dead 4 is safe, but there still some sad news for the fans. Assistant Community Manager, Kate Bryant aka Kate Burning has been recently laid off today. For those who don’t know, she was a new recruit as a community manager after Aaron Webber was promoted as Assistant Brand Manager for Sonic Generations and Yakuza: Dead Souls. She was also in charge of promoting the rerelease of The House of the Dead III and the long awaited 4 installment. I think she did a fantasic job promoting these two games. Wish her good luck for her future and hope that awesome opportunities come her way.

To celebrate the upcoming release of House of the Dead 4 exclusively for PS3, we’re giving you the chance to win a PlayStation+ membership! (Very sorry international fans, but this one’s for US and Canada blog readers only.)

Sega has updated their blog and announced that the House of the Dead 4 will officially be released on April 17th on Playstation Network. Heres the information that Sega shared on their blog.

Straight out of the arcades in Japan, The House of the Dead 4 will be available exclusively on PSN on April 17 th at a wallet friendly price of $9.99. This is the first time this classic arcade light gun shooter is available on a home console. Your mission is quite simple. Play as AMS Agent James Taylor or Kate Green and save the world by fighting against an old enemy and hordes of unforgiving evil creatures. Use your gun and grenades to blast them away!
